Our Story
Science Factory Camp has sparked curiosity and confidence in kids since 2012. What began as a small, hands-on science camp grew from one, simple belief: kids learn best when they’re free to create, destroy, and explore.

Meet the Founder
Science Factory Camp was founded by Brian, an educator with a lifelong passion for teaching and learning. Over the years, Brian worked in a wide range of educational settings—from owning and instructing at a martial arts studio, to leading after-school programs, to serving as a Mythbuster at the Tech Museum in San Jose (yes, he really met them). He also spent six years as a university economics lecturer, where his favorite part of teaching was helping students build confidence through understanding.
No matter the setting, Brian believed that learning should feel active, engaging, and empowering. That belief—and his enthusiasm for science—led him to start Science Factory Camp as a way to share hands-on discovery with the next generation. While Brian is no longer involved in the camp today, his original vision continues to shape the program’s approach to curiosity, experimentation, and learning through trial and error.
The Early Days
Science Factory Camp began as a small summer hobby while our founder Brian and his wife were still in college. What started with a single group of children quickly grew as families returned year after year, drawn to a program where kids were encouraged to ask questions, get messy, and learn through hands-on experience. Like many programs, Science Factory Camp faced a pause in 2020 when its original location closed. But the idea behind the camp never disappeared. When the program returned in 2022 in Spokane Washington, families showed up in full support—reaffirming the value of a camp where kids are able to create, destroy, and explore in a supportive environment.
Joining the Bright Horizons Family
In 2025, Science Factory Camp joined the Bright Horizons family, opening an exciting new chapter for the program. With Bright Horizons’ support, we’re able to thoughtfully grow the camp and bring its hands-on approach to more communities—while staying true to the spirit that has defined Science Factory Camp since the beginning. Today, we carry Brian’s same approach forward as we create camp experiences that help kids grow curious, confident, and capable—one experiment at a time.
